Macy’s is committed to helping fight hunger for the 41 million Americans facing food poverty. Since 1998, we’ve raised the equivalent of $43 million to help end hunger through our annual Bag Hunger campaign.
At Macy’s, we show up in times of need, and we take care of the communities we're a part of. When disasters strike, we rapidly respond to assist our communities, colleagues and relief organizations.
Since 2003, Macy’s has partnered with Make-A-Wish® to help make wishes come true. We have donated more than $122 million to grant more than 14,000 wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Since 2013, Macy’s has donated millions of dollars worth of clothing to give people the confidence they deserve to feel remarkable.
When you help us donate a brand new coat to someone in need, you’re not only providing them with warmth during the cold winter months, you’re also giving them the dignity they deserve. Since 2013, Macy’s has donated more than $9.4 million worth of brand new coats to Clothes4Souls to keep more than 235,000 men, women and children warm.
Macy’s Partners in Time volunteers across the country have helped to distribute these coats to people in need within their local communities.
This holiday season, Bloomingdale’s employees wrapped and delivered more than 200 new warm winter coats and educational toys to children and mothers at HELP USA domestic violence and homeless shelters, helping to bring residents holiday cheer and warmth during the winter months.
Everyone deserves to sparkle. That’s why we’ve partnered with Becca’s Closet - a nonprofit organization committed to donating formal dresses to high school girls who would be unable to attend their special night without help - to make sure everyone has access to a brand new prom dress that makes them feel like their remarkable selves.
Since 2016, Macy’s has donated more than 16,800 brand new prom dresses worth nearly $1 million.
In 2018, Macy’s Partners in Time volunteers helped distribute 1,500 dresses to underserved girls in cities across the United States in partnership with Becca’s Closet.
Macy’s provides business attire to individuals through corporate grants to community non-profit organizations in order to give confidence and allow a sense of belonging and comfort.
Supporting graduates: Macy’s partners with MyStylist to help college students and graduates find their career style, giving them to confidence with their peers as they prepare for their careers.
Supporting veterans: Macy’s partnered with Bunker Labs to provide entrepreneurial military veterans with a brand new look, helping to enhance their personal brand, their confidence and give them a boost to be successful as they embark on their next career.
More than 41 million people are affected by hunger in the United States, including 13 million children. That means one in every five children is not getting the food they need. It is in every state, every county and every community. That’s why Macy’s is committed to Bag Hunger. Each year, our Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s colleagues and our customers come together to alleviate hunger by providing year-round support to food banks, including emergency food assistance programs and summer meals for children who typically rely on school meal programs. Since 1998, through the generosity of our colleagues and customers, we’ve raised the equivalent of $43 million to help end hunger through our annual Bag Hunger campaign. Our Partners in Time volunteers have helped to serve millions of meals to men, women and children in our communities.
In 2018, Bloomingdale’s helped provide more than 1.1 million pounds of food and more than $300K in hunger relief for those in need in our communities through our annual Bag Hunger campaign.

To support relief efforts, Macy’s, our customers and our colleagues donate to fund relief efforts, scholarship programs, home rebuilds, clothing, emotional support and more to those impacted by natural and manmade disasters.
Macy’s partners with Delivering Good, an organization that unites retailers, manufacturers, foundations and individuals to provide people impacted by poverty and tragedy with new merchandise they desperately need, but also to offer self-esteem to at-risk children, families, and individuals in need.
In the wake of natural disasters, Macy’s colleagues quickly connect with those impacted by providing personal support, and by collecting clothing and food to donate to those in need during disaster. Macy’s stores in impacted areas create stations with charging equipment, water bottles and other support during times of need.
In 2018, Macy’s partnered with Team Rubicon to help rebuild homes affected by Hurricane Harvey in the greater Houston area. More than 55 Macy’s volunteers rolled up their sleeves and cleaned, sanded and painted to rebuild homes.
When our Macy's family is the community that needs support, our colleagues always seek ways to help take care of one another. This is the inspiration behind our North Star Relief Fund. Launched with a $1 million corporate grant, the Fund is supported by colleague contribution. The North Star Relief Fund is a 501(c)(3) charity providing rapid, direct financial assistance to our people in times of need. It provides an opportunity to each of us at Macy's to help support those who are faced with unpredictable hardship.

Every hour that Macy’s is open for business, more than three children are diagnosed with a critical illness. Wishes help kids look past their limitations, families overcome anxiety, and entire communities experience joy. Most importantly, wishes improve a child’s quality of life, giving them the strength they need to fight critical illness.
That’s where the Macy’s Believe campaign comes in. As the heart of our holiday season at Macy’s, the Believe campaign is built on a simple premise – believers of all ages are invited to write a letter to Santa in any Macy’s store or online at macys.com/believe. For every letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish® up to $1 million, to grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses.
Thanks to customers and colleagues, over the past 15 years we have helped to make life shine a little brighter by granting 14,000 wishes and donating more than $122 million to Make-A-Wish. And it doesn’t stop there, through the act of granting a wish, we are helping to lift the spirits of more than 2.6 million people in the support network of each Wish kid.
